I’m here to take the stress out of marketing so you can impact more lives, without having to wait around on word-of-mouth magic.
Professionally, I’m a copywriter, website designer, and marketing consultant with eleven years of small biz know-how (AKA learning through trial and error). I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with Dean’s List honors and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health in 2005.
Before transitioning to marketing, I empowered thousands of people on wellness journeys as an expert contributing writer, dietitian, massage therapist, holistic wellness radio show host, and mental health advocate. My heart-centered leadership and marketing savvy transformed a start-up massage practice into an award-winning practice of fifteen therapists serving 11,000 clients.
The pandemic (and burnout) led to my bittersweet decision to sell the massage practice, but everything happens for us instead of to us, especially the hard things.
Twelve years ago, I drank charcoal in the back of an ambulance after trauma convinced me to give up. Rape, mental health struggles, divorce, and coming out tested my spirit. Today, I'm grateful the challenges served as catalysts on my path to authenticity and balance.
The truth is, life's rough periods are simply dark chapters. Everyone has their struggles — it's part of being human. Focusing on the good (and trusting the process) helps us rise above our challenges.
I believe we're here to shine a light for others and helping conscious entrepreneurs reach more people is a win for the collective. I love working with coaches, holistic professionals, and small businesses on a mission to do good.
I live in a tiny cottage in the North Carolina mountains with two furkids. Exploring nature keeps me centered, and I love making happy memories with my girlfriend, family, and close friends.
People often ask how I came up with the name Joyful Rising. It evolved from my fascination with the phoenix, the mythical firebird that rose from its ashes.
